Adult Behavioral Health Unit
Staffed by physicians, nurses and therapists, this highly specialized unit offers compassionate care to patients needing acute psychiatric, medical detoxification and inpatient substance abuse treatment.

Diagnostic Services
Echocardiograms, stress tests and pulmonary function tests are just a few of the diagnostic services available at KMH.

Emergency Department
Highly trained physicians and nurses provide emergency treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the KMH Emergency Department. Emergency air transport services, through MedCenter Air, provide patients who have special needs with fast transport to Carolinas Medical Center.

Pain Management Center
In association with Southeastern Anesthesiology, the Pain Management Center at KMH offers comprehensive pain management therapy leading to relief and assistance in coping with chronic and severe pain.

Radiology Services
The Radiology Department offers diagnostic x-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, nuclear medicine and computerized tomography (CT) scans. Procedures are performed in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

KMH offers mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The mobile scanner will be at the hospital on Sundays. MRI is a sophisticated diagnostic tool that uses a magnetic field to scan inside the body, and is especially effective in imaging soft tissues. It produces detailed 3-dimensional images allowing a physician to more easily and accurately diagnose illness or disease. Among its many advantages, an MRI is ideal for:

• Diagnosing multiple sclerosis
• Diagnosing tumors of the pituitary gland and brain
• Diagnosing infections in the brain, spine or joints
• Visualizing shoulder injuries, or torn ligaments in the wrist, knee and ankle
• Evaluating masses in soft body tissues, bone tumors, cysts, and bulging or herniated discs in the spine

Rehabilitation Services
KMH offers inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services including physical, speech and occupational therapy.

Skilled Nursing Center
KMH has 10 designated skilled nursing facility beds. These beds allow patients who need skilled nursing care to stay in the community and within the secure environment of KMH.

Surgical Services
The Surgical Services Department offers both inpatient and outpatient surgery, including laparoscopic techniques in hospital surgical suites. Comprehensive endoscopy procedures are also available.
