CLEVELAND REGIONAL HEART CENTER

Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the U.S. and in Cleveland County. In fact, Cleveland County holds the state record in the incidence of heart disease. That's why Cleveland Regional Medical Center has strengthened its resources to battle this disease through a new and expanded Center of Excellence-the Cleveland Regional Heart Center.

  • Stress testing (standard, nuclear, Persantine)
  • Cardiac Ultrasound (Stress Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography)
  • Electrocardiography
  • Plethysmography, Peripheral Vascular Pulmonary
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation (Inpatient and Outpatient) - YMCA Affiliation
  • Community education
  • Level III Trauma Center
  • Acute Care Treatment of Myocardial Infarction and Congestive Heart Failure
  • Affiliation for Interventional Cardiology with Carolinas HealthCare System

As part of Carolinas Heart Institute, the Cleveland Regional Heart Center offers patients access to a comprehensive scope of cardiac services including catheterization, cardioversion, cardiac ultrasound, electrocardiography, transesophageal echo and stress testing, and inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. When such procedures as open heart surgery are required, helicopter transport is readily available. Patients can also feel confident knowing that Cleveland Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department has the distinction of being a Level III Trauma Center and is equipped to handle severe heart attacks as well as congestive heart failure.

Specialists
The Cleveland Regional Heart Center team of specialists and professionals includes board-certified cardiologists, certified cardiopulmonary and EKG technicians, specialty trained cardiology, cardiac cath and cardiac rehab nurses, a certified exercise specialist, a clinical nutritionist and other support personnel.

A Multidisciplinary Approach
Patients benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. Through the Center, patients and families have access to all the resources, assessments and treatments they need right here at home.

Cardiopulmonary Rehab
Cardiopulmonary Rehab is a program of care for patients with chronic respiratory impairment or those who have suffered a heart condition. These include a Heart Attack, Valve Replacement, Open Heart Surgery or certain types of Coronary Heart Disease. The program is individually tailored and designed to optimize physical and social performance. A group of dedicated professionals includes a Medical Director, Director, Supervisor, Nurse, Exercise Physiologist, Respiratory Therapist, Clinical Registered Dietitian and a Vocational Rehab Counselor in stress management.
